DENNWOOD

A Sheboygan home's remodel incorporates an open floor plan while maintaining its classic Tudor character.

Dennwood Dining Nook

This beautiful Tudor-style home sits between Lake Michigan and a calm backyard pond. It was built with incredible attention to detail, lots of intricate woodwork and loads of personality. The new owners set out to maintain its character but needed to adjust the floor plan to best function for their large family.

Their requirements included clearer visibility of the front door, removal of an extra staircase, enlargement of the mudroom, and opening up the kitchen to include the sunroom. The revised floor plan relocated the front door and repurposed the original outdoor veranda to a study/guest room, created an open space for both a piano and a large dining table off the entry, created a custom built-in dining nook in the kitchen, doubled the countertop seating, added a scullery for additional storage and food preparation, and incorporated coat closets, lockers, and a washer/dryer in the mudroom. The reimagined floor plan provides the clients with first-floor sleeping arrangements for guests, ample space for entertaining, and better directs the natural flow of traffic for a busy family of six.
